Bridges to Smile and Chew with Confidence

Dental bridges

People who for some reason have lost one or more of their teeth often experience changes in their speaking and chewing patterns. However, there is an option to revert both of these to their original form and acquire a beautiful smile in the process. Bridges are used as stand-ins for missing teeth, thereby keeping the lower part of your face in its original shape, while reducing the stress of your bite. Alternatively known as fixed partial dentures, bridges are used to substitute missing teeth. It looks just like the real thing all the while effectively bridging the gap when the original teeth are no longer there. Bridges are usually made from gold, porcelain, alloys or a mixture of all three materials. For additional support, the dentist will bond the bridge onto surrounding teeth.

There are two types of dental bridges, one removable and another one which is fixed by attaching it directly to the jaw bone. Regardless of which one your dentist will suggest; the success of any bridge depends heavily on the strength of its foundation. This means you have to take good care of the remaining teeth in order to have reliable support!
